The closure was unexpected, with a notice on Facebook reading, “After four and a half years of bringing you low-impact, high-intensity workouts, we are sad to announce that Crowbar will be closing its doors as of June 30, 2017. We will continue to offer all classes until then, so if you have a class package, please use all remaining classes before June 30th.”
Memberships set for auto-renew have also been stopped.
Located at Belmont and Greenville avenues, the studio specializes in low-impact but intense exercise routines and was opened in 2013 by longtime friends Karen Soltero and Molly Setnick. Soltero and Setnick believe in "wrecking your workout, not your body,” which came as a relief to anyone with knee and joint issues — or those who didn’t want to kill themselves working out. The studio was stocked with cool toys like RealRyder bikes, Indo-Row machines, and a barre.
They ended their Facebook note by saying, “We have enjoyed working out with each and every one of you and greatly appreciate your friendship and patronage. We don’t know exactly what the next big thing is yet, but we will keep you in the loop. In the meantime, we wish you a fit, fun life, and look forward to working out and rowing with you in the future. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at info@crowbarcardio.com.”
